G4 Clasico Blanco Tequila
G4 Clasico Blanco Tequila is a limited-release blanco tequila from Destileria El Pandillo (NOM 1579) in Jesus Maria, in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. Bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof) in a 750mL bottle, this unaged 100% Blue Weber agave tequila blends 90% classic G4 blanco with 10% tequila fermented with its agave fibers still in the tank, and it is verified additive-free. It wears a replica of G4's original 2012 label, a deliberate nod to the first bottlings Felipe Camarena ever released under the G4 name.

The Story Behind G4 Clasico
G4 stands for the fourth generation of the Camarena family, and no distillery in Mexico is more closely identified with one man's engineering mind than El Pandillo, which Felipe Camarena built in Jesus Maria at roughly 7,000 feet elevation. Estate-grown agave from the ranch's mineral-rich red clay soils is roasted for 22 hours in masonry ovens, crushed by Felipestein, the mechanical tahona Felipe built from recycled parts, slow-fermented with the family's ancestral yeast, and double distilled in copper pot stills. Every G4 tequila is made with a signature 50/50 blend of captured rainwater and natural spring water, and nothing else but agave and yeast.
Clasico looks backward on purpose. Most of the blend is the distillery's benchmark blanco, the same spirit sold as the classic G4 Blanco, but one tenth of it is tequila fermented with the crushed agave fibers left in, an older, more rustic method that adds texture and depth. Finished with the label design from G4's 2012 debut, it is the closest thing in the current range to tasting El Pandillo's earliest work.
Tasting Notes
- Aroma: Roasted agave, citrus rind, crushed minerals, and a subtle earthiness
- Palate: Green pepper, herbal spice, lime peel, and brined olive over a pronounced cooked-agave core
- Finish: Long, peppery, and dry, with the fiber-fermented portion giving the mouthfeel a richness the standard blanco does not have
How to Enjoy
Sip it neat at room temperature in a fluted glass or a Riedel tequila glass so the minerality and green, herbal edges stay in focus; a single drop of water opens up the earthier notes. It is a serious sipping blanco first, but that same agave intensity makes an exceptional Margarita or Paloma when you want the tequila, not the mixer, to lead. Its aged sister bottling, the G4 Throwback Reposado, takes the same heritage idea into American oak and sherry casks.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is G4 Clasico Blanco different from regular G4 Blanco?
The base spirit is the same El Pandillo blanco, but Clasico blends in 10% tequila that was fermented with its agave fibers, which adds texture, vegetal depth, and a slightly richer mouthfeel. It is also a limited release of 2,016 cases bottled with a replica of the brand's original 2012 label.
What does G4 mean?
G4 refers to the fourth generation of Camarena tequila makers. Master distiller Felipe Camarena founded El Pandillo in Jesus Maria, Jalisco, and his sons represent the generation the brand is named for.
Is G4 Clasico Blanco additive-free?
Yes. G4 is verified additive-free, made only from estate-grown Blue Weber agave, water, and yeast, with no sweeteners, glycerin, or flavor corrections. El Pandillo was the original model distillery for Tequila Matchmaker's Verified Additive Free program.
Where is G4 Clasico Blanco made?
At Destileria El Pandillo (NOM 1579) in Jesus Maria, in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, from agave grown on the distillery's own Rancho El Pandillo at about 7,000 feet elevation.
