Boot Hill Distillery Straight Wheat Whiskey
Boot Hill Distillery Straight Wheat Whiskey is the purest expression of the Kelman family farm — 100 proof (50% ABV), 750mL, distilled in Dodge City, Kansas from 100% hard red winter wheat grown on the family's own Kansas land. Boot Hill takes only the narrowest cuts of the run, then ages the spirit over two years in new American white oak barrels, refining the raw wheat into caramel, chocolate, brown butter and dried fruit. It is Kansas soil-to-sip whiskey with nothing else in the mash. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

One Grain, One Farm
Almost no American whiskey is made from a single grain, and fewer still from one family's fields. Boot Hill's wheat whiskey is both: hard red winter wheat planted, harvested, milled, mashed, fermented and distilled by the same Kansas operation, then given a full two-plus years in new oak at a robust 100 proof. The wheat's softness shows up as brown butter, cereal sweetness and soft leather rather than rye's snap or corn's caramel weight. It is a distinctive stop in our American whiskey collection — see the rest of the farm's work at Boot Hill Distillery and across the whisky range.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Caramel, chocolate, bergamot and balsa wood with vanilla. Palate: Brown butter, dried fruit, breakfast tea, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg over cereal grain. Finish: Cereal, allspice, caramel and soft leather.
How to Enjoy
At 100 proof it rewards a slow neat pour; a few drops of water open the brown-butter and dried-fruit side. It also makes a soft, cereal-sweet Manhattan variation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this really 100% wheat? Yes — the mash is entirely hard red winter wheat grown on the distillery owners' Kansas farm; no corn, rye or barley.
How is a wheat whiskey different from a wheated bourbon? A wheated bourbon like Boot Hill's own Bourbon (51% corn, 49% wheat) is still corn-led; a straight wheat whiskey is wheat-led — here, wheat is the only grain — giving a softer, more cereal-and-butter profile.
What proof is it? 100 proof (50% ABV).
