Tequila Ocho Barrel Proof Reposado Tequila Salto de Nogales 2026
Tequila Ocho Barrel Proof Reposado Tequila Salto de Nogales 2026 is the cask-strength limited edition from Tequila Ocho, the single-estate, vintage-dated tequila founded by master tequilero Carlos Camarena and the late Tomas Estes and made at Tequilera Los Alambiques in Arandas, in the Jalisco Highlands. This bottling comes from a single field, the Salto de Nogales estate, with agave harvested in 2026, and it is the second release of the Barrel Proof Reposado after the 2025 debut from Rancho Las Raices. It is rested up to six months in barrels previously used for American whiskey, roughly three times as long as the core Ocho Reposado, blended from only a couple dozen barrels at a time, and bottled without chill filtration at 50.5% ABV (101 proof). It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

A Single Field, Bottled at Full Strength
Like every Ocho, this tequila is made from a single field harvested in a single year, so each edition tastes of one place and one harvest. The agave is slow-cooked in stone ovens, fermented in wooden vats with native airborne yeast, and double-distilled in copper pot stills with nothing added but water. The longer rest and barrel-proof bottling keep the bright, agave-forward Highlands character the house is known for, with more wood and weight behind it. Annual allocations are small and each year's estate is different. Browse more reposado tequila and the full tequila shelf at Del Mesa.
Tasting Notes
The nose is a powerful bouquet of rich cooked agave, cacao, milk chocolate, apples and cinnamon, prunes, red fruits, black pepper and bright citrus, layered with caramel, vanilla and toasted oak from the barrel. The palate brings coffee, cacao, tobacco, cooked agave and candied apples, with rosemary and smoky cinnamon, and the finish is exceptionally long and warming, sweet agave and peppery spice lingering with a final whisper of oak.
How to Enjoy
Carlos Camarena recommends drinking it neat, and at barrel proof that is where the estate character shows best. A few drops of still water open the cacao and red fruit, and it also makes a rich, agave-forward base for a spirit-forward cocktail when you want the tequila to lead.
