Rumcast Reserve Single Cask Mauritius MLM0 Rum is a single-cask rum bottled by Rumcast Reserve, the independent bottling arm of The Rumcast podcast, distilled in December 2015 from fresh sugarcane juice on a single column still at Distillerie de Labourdonnais in Mapou, Mauritius, and bottled at cask strength, 63.0% ABV (126 proof), in a 375mL bottle. Aged 5 years and 5 months in an ex-English malt whisky cask and selected in person at The Main Rum Company in Liverpool, it is one of the two inaugural Rumcast Reserve casks. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

  • Origin: Mauritius, matured in Liverpool, England

Journey #1, Cask #2: Liverpool via Mauritius

On January 27, 2025, Rumcast co-hosts John Gulla and Will Hoekenga tasted through the warehouse at The Main Rum Company in Liverpool looking for one cask — and left with two. This Mauritius rum shipped unaged to Main Rum (the mark MLM0 means Main Rum, Labourdonnais, Mauritius, zero years aged at origin), rested in steel, and was filled on September 30, 2019 at 69.5% ABV into the wine-malt cask, where the cool Liverpool climate in the Plutus and Dempster warehouses did the rest. It was decanted on February 25, 2025 for shipping to the United States. A single cask, so a one-time release. Tasting Notes

A cane-juice rum at full strength — grassy, bright agricole-style freshness from the fresh-pressed juice, deepened by five-plus years in a wine-seasoned malt whisky cask: expect orchard and tropical fruit, honeyed spice and a wine-kissed oak frame, with the 63% strength carrying a long, warming, flavour-dense finish.

How to Enjoy

Sip it neat in a small glass, rested, then open it with a few drops of water — at cask strength you set the proof. Collectors of independent bottlings should browse our full spirits range for its Guyana sibling cask and more one-off releases.
