Roaming Road 18 Year Old Barbados Rum
Roaming Road 18 Year Old Barbados Rum is a single-cask Barbados rum from Roaming Road Spirits, the independent bottling project of founder Mike Gilmore, distilled from molasses on a blend of pot and column stills and bottled at cask strength, 59.8% ABV (119.6 proof), in a 750mL bottle. It spent eighteen years in American oak — a once-used ex-bourbon cask — and went into the bottle with no added sugars and no additives. Like every Roaming Road release, it is a one-off cask of 250 bottles or fewer, bottled at Bardstown Bourbon Company in Kentucky and never repeated. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Eighteen Tropical Years, Bottled Uncut
Barbados is the birthplace of rum as a named spirit and the most consistent source of balanced, pot-and-column aged rum in the Caribbean — which is why Bajan casks are the backbone of nearly every serious independent bottler's range. Roaming Road launched in September 2024 under Gilmore's motto 'We Go Where The Spirit Takes Us,' and this 2025 cask gets to the heart of the project: find a distinctive individual cask from a serious producer and bottle it with enough transparency to let the selection stand on its own, with no cosmetic shortcuts and no attempt to sand down the character of the barrel. Eighteen years is a long rest for a tropical-aged rum, where the warm climate pulls flavor from the wood far faster than a Scottish warehouse would. Explore the rest of the range in our rum collection and the wider spirits shelves.
Tasting Notes
Expect the classic long-aged Bajan register at full strength: toasted coconut, vanilla and dried fruit over deep oak, with the pot-still weight giving it structure and a long, warming, spicy finish — a profile whiskey drinkers tend to take to quickly, thanks to its balance and cask influence.
How to Enjoy
Serve it neat in a small glass and give it time; a few drops of water open the dried fruit and oak. Collectors hunting single-cask rum should also browse our rare and top shelf collection.
