Redcliff America's Liqueur
Redcliff America's Liqueur is the cola-based premium liqueur created in the mid-2000s by former Seagram's executive Frank Arcella, the man behind Corazón Tequila, who set out to give the United States a flagship liqueur of its own. A combination of over 15 ingredients is blended and fused into a caramel-colored spirit bottled at 65 proof (32.5% ABV) — and billed as the first and only cola-based spirit of its kind.
Built around an original cola flavoring with Bourbon vanilla, cinnamon, lime, anise and hazelnut, over a base that includes eight-year-old Virgin Islands rum, vermouth and vodka, Redcliff drinks like a spiced whiskey-liqueur hybrid, and it earned 90 points from Anthony Dias Blue in Patterson's Beverage Journal. Pour it on the rocks, lengthen it with cola or soda, or mix it into cocktails alongside other herbal & anise liqueurs such as Green Chartreuse.
The flask-shaped bottle is embossed with petroglyph-style spirals, and the label art by Stephen Reaves depicts the red cliffs of the Southwest. Produced and bottled by Redcliff Spirits in San Jose, California for Arcella Premium Brands, Redcliff has long been discontinued and is increasingly hard to find.
