Anejo Tequila | 750mL | 40% ABV (80 proof) | Aged 18 Months — G4 Anejo Tequila is the oak-rested expression from Felipe Camarena — fourth-generation maestro tequilero (G4 = four generations) — at Destilería El Pandillo (NOM 1579) in Jesús María, in Jalisco's Los Altos highlands. Estate-grown Blue Weber agave is stone-oven cooked 22 hours, crushed with a handmade metal tahona, open-air fermented, and double-distilled in copper pot stills before 18 months in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. Additive-free, bottled at 40% ABV. Available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor in San Diego, CA.

G4 is the geeks' tequila — the house that proves how much process matters. The water is 50% harvested rainwater and 50% natural spring water from the ranch; fermentation runs wild in the open air. The result is an anejo that drinks like a field report from Los Altos: cooked agave up front, vanilla and butterscotch from the oak, and a whisper of the smoke that Camarena's distillate is known for.

Tasting notes

Nose: agave and vanilla, soft floral and peppery tones with smoky highlights (brand sell sheet). Palate: cooked agave, black pepper, butterscotch, cinnamon, gentle oak. Finish: long, with a touch of smoke.
