Daviess County Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Daviess County Kentucky Straight Bourbon is a 750mL Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey bottled at 96 proof (48% ABV) by Lux Row Distillers of Bardstown, Kentucky. Head distiller John Rempe built it as a blend of two bourbon mash bills — one wheated, one ryed — for balanced sweetness and spice, with no secondary finish: this is the core bottling the whole Daviess County family stands on. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Core of the Revived Daviess County
Daviess County Distilling Company was founded in 1874, grew into one of Kentucky's first great bourbon houses, and was among the few to survive Prohibition; the brand passed to the David Sherman Corporation (now Luxco) in 1993 and slept until Lux Row relaunched it in February 2020. Rempe's recipe for the revival was a blender's answer to the wheated-versus-ryed argument: use both. A wheated mash bill brings the soft, sweet base, a ryed mash bill brings the spice, and the core bourbon is where the two meet with nothing else in the way. Tasting Notes
Per Lux Row's official notes: an aroma of honey, vanilla and caramel; a smooth palate of honey, vanilla and caramel carried straight through; and a long, warm, sweet finish with a hint of spice. It is the reference glass for the family — the finishes in this range start from exactly this profile.
How to Enjoy
Neat or on the rocks at full 96 proof, and a natural base for a classic Old Fashioned or Whiskey Sour. More Kentucky straights are waiting in our bourbon whiskey collection and across our spirits collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
What mash bill is Daviess County Kentucky Straight Bourbon?
A blend of two: one wheated bourbon mash bill and one ryed bourbon mash bill, combined for balanced sweetness and spice. Lux Row lists the ingredients — corn, wheat, rye, malt and water — but does not publish percentages.
Is Daviess County a wheated bourbon?
Not only. It is deliberately both — wheated and ryed mash bills blended together — so it pours softer than a high-rye bourbon and spicier than a straight wheated one.
Who relaunched the Daviess County brand?
Lux Row Distillers (Luxco) of Bardstown, Kentucky, in February 2020 — reviving a Daviess County Distilling Company name that dates to 1874.
