Clydeside Napier Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a 100% sherry cask matured single malt from The Clydeside Distillery in Glasgow, matured for over six years in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 46% ABV in a 700mL bottle, non-chill filtered and natural in colour. It is made from 100% Scottish barley and Loch Katrine water, with a long 72-hour fermentation, at the distillery Tim Morrison built inside the old Pump House at Queen’s Dock on the River Clyde. Named for the Father of Clyde Shipbuilding
The Clydeside Distillery opened in 2017 — the first single malt distillery in Glasgow’s city centre in more than a century — directly across the water from Robert Napier’s Govan shipyard. Napier (1791–1876), the engineer credited as the father of Clyde shipbuilding, worked to one mantra: “quality, quality, quality,” which is printed on this bottle and runs the distillery’s production, from slow distillation to that long fermentation. Tasting Notes
Ripe berries, sweet rose and tropical tones on the nose. The palate is soft and full: orange marmalade, ripe cherry and vanilla over dried fruit, closing with a warming finish of clove and ginger. The sherry shows without shouting — a proper sherry-cask malt at a friendly strength.
How to Enjoy
