A Film Director's Añejo

Chamucos started as an artistic collaboration: an Oscar-nominated film director, a hand-blown glass artist, and importer Mark Howard set out in 1992 to make an ultra-premium tequila, with the recipe from master distiller Ing. Hector Davalos. The añejo spends 18 months in selected white oak barrels — the current formulation; older "Especial" bottlings carried longer age claims. The profile is classic well-aged tequila: an intense amber-gold color, a robust body with a great finish, and flavors of dried fruit, prunes, almonds, vanilla, and chocolate over an intense, smooth, fruity nose. Browse the Chamucos range or more añejos from Jalisco.

Tasting Notes

Elegant and silky. The 18-month oak rest coats the palate with roasted agave and inviting vanilla, then layers in dried fruit, prunes, almonds, and chocolate. The nose is intense and smooth — fruity, with strong vanilla and chocolate — and the finish is long and sweet. Brand copy calls it complex and refined; the live product page's own description agrees.

How to Enjoy

Sip neat or over a single large cube — 18 months of oak deserves the unadorned pour. It is a natural after-dinner tequila alongside dark chocolate or almonds, and a luxurious base for an añejo Old Fashioned.
