Bladnoch Alinta Scotch Whisky
Bladnoch Alinta Scotch Whisky is a peated Lowland single malt from Bladnoch, Scotland’s southernmost distillery — the first smoky release in the distillery’s two-hundred-year history — matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 47% ABV in a 700mL bottle, non-chill filtered and natural in colour. Part of the Twinned Cask Collection by Master Distiller Dr. Nick Savage, it is built on 100% peated malt from the distillery’s small annual peat campaign. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Fire in the Lowlands
Bladnoch, founded in 1817 on the River Bladnoch in Galloway and revived in 2015 by David Prior under Master Distiller Dr. Nick Savage, is famous for light, floral, unpeated malt — which is exactly why Alinta matters. The name means “fire” and “flames” in the Aboriginal languages of southeast Australia, a nod to the distillery’s Australian owner, and the whisky pairs that Lowland delicacy with genuine campfire smoke, the PX casks laying raisin sweetness under it. Lowland peat is rare; this is the bottle that proves the point. See more peated and unpeated pours in our Scotch whisky range and the wider whisky shelves.
Tasting Notes
Campfire smoke and smoky ice cream on the nose, with delicate florals and sweet oak. The palate is smooth and weighty — campfire embers, almonds and raisins wrapped in a white chocolate body — and the finish is long, with a lingering sweet smoke. The peat is soft rather than medicinal, more barbecue ember than hospital corridor.
How to Enjoy
Pour it neat by a fire, real or imagined; a splash of water pulls the PX raisin forward. It is also a superb smoky float on a Penicillin. Find more cocktail building blocks among our spirits at Del Mesa.
