Bedford Park 5 Year Old Jamaican Single Barrel Rum is a single-barrel Jamaican rum from independent bottler Bedford Park, distilled at the New Yarmouth Distillery in 2019 and bottled in 2025 at cask strength, 69% ABV (138 proof), in a 700mL bottle. The rum — New Yarmouth’s Hugh Murdoch marque — matured with full continental aging in once-used bourbon barrel No. 8 and yielded just 240 bottles, non-chill filtered with no additives. Bedford Park is the Toronto-based bottler whose single casks are brought into the United States by Raising Glasses. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Five Years Young, at Full Volume

Raising Glasses found this cask the way Bedford Park finds many of its best ones — at a group tasting, where the five-year-old New Yarmouth was, in their words, an instant hit with flavour far beyond its years. New Yarmouth, in Clarendon Parish, is one of Jamaica’s great ester producers, and the Hugh Murdoch marque is built for funk: long fermentations and pot still spirit that arrives loaded with tropical fruit and solvent-bright esters. Five years in a once-used bourbon barrel lays down vanilla and light caramel without taming any of it, which makes this the purest, rawest expression of Jamaican pot still character in Bedford Park’s Jamaican range. Browse the rest of that range in our rum collection.

Tasting Notes

Explosive overripe banana, pineapple and mango over rotting-fruit hogo and glue-like esters. The palate is dense and oily — tropical fruit, brine, black pepper and a whisper of wood — finishing long, hot and unrepentantly funky. Add water and it blooms.

How to Enjoy

Sip it neat with a few drops of water to open the esters, or use it sparingly as the funk engine in a Mai Tai or Jet Pilot. Find the rest of the build among our cocktail ingredients, and more high-ester pours across our spirits shelves.
