Bedford Park 16 Year Old Jamaican Single Barrel Rum is a single-barrel Jamaican rum from independent bottler Bedford Park, distilled at the New Yarmouth Distillery in 2008 and bottled in 2025 at cask strength, 58.4% ABV (116.8 proof), in a 700mL bottle. It matured in first-fill Madeira hogshead No. 5 — a landmark collaboration bottling with the UK Rum Club and Rum Club Canada — and yielded just 305 bottles, non-chill filtered with no additives. Bedford Park is the Toronto-based bottler brought into the United States by Raising Glasses. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Jamaican Punch Meets Madeira

Most long-aged Jamaican rum rests in bourbon wood; this New Yarmouth spent its life in a first-fill Madeira hogshead, and Raising Glasses call the combination of Jamaican punch and Madeira flavour a landmark bottling — one that takes on a life of its own once the bottle is open and the rum has had some air. Sixteen years rounds the famous New Yarmouth esters without losing their intensity: the funk is still there, but it arrives layered under the dried-fruit, nutty richness that Madeira casks give. It is the oldest and rarest Jamaican in this Bedford Park release — compare it with the younger casks in our rum collection.

Tasting Notes

Overripe banana, pineapple and tropical fruit with classic hogo, layered into dark toffee, dried fruit, leather, tobacco and dark chocolate from the Madeira wood and the long aging. The finish is long, dry and spicy. A few drops of water let it open considerably.

How to Enjoy

This is a neat pour — rest it in the glass, add water a few drops at a time, and give the second glass the air the bottler recommends. Explore more long-aged single casks across our spirits shelves, or find bitters and modifiers among our cocktail ingredients.
