Bandoeng '22 Pandan Liqueur
Bandoeng ’22 Pandan Liqueur is the world’s first pandan liqueur — a Dutch-Indonesian liqueur of distilled pandan leaves blended with Indonesian spices, crafted at the Herman Jansen Distillery in Schiedam, the Netherlands, and bottled at 22% ABV in a 700mL bottle. Pandan, Southeast Asia’s answer to vanilla, brings a nutty, floral, faintly grassy sweetness and the liqueur’s vivid emerald-green colour. The name honors Bandung, the West Java city nicknamed “Paris van Java” for its Art Deco architecture and 1920s cocktail culture — and the ’22 doubles as the ABV. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Inspired in Indonesia, Crafted in Holland
Bandoeng ’22 launched in 2019 through a crowdfunding campaign in the Netherlands and is made at Herman Jansen, a family distillery producing spirits in Schiedam’s distillers’ district since 1777. It is all-natural — no artificial colouring — and the brand describes it as a tool for bartenders and chefs who want an Asian twist that pairs with food as happily as it mixes. The trade agrees: it took Double Gold and 97 points at the 2024 Bartender Spirits Awards, judged by bartenders and buyers for the on-premise trade. Find it among our liqueurs and the wider spirits shelves.
Tasting Notes
Nutty and botanical on the nose — fresh pandan, nutmeg, cocoa and roasted hazelnut. The palate is sweet and spiced: vanilla, coconut cream, almond and cinnamon over buttery pastry, closing floral with marshmallow, brown sugar and a popcorn-like finish. Tastings.com scored it 92 points, finding almond cookie, orange zest, caramel and ginger in the glass.
How to Enjoy
A modifier that works with nearly any base spirit: a Pandan Espresso Martini, a Pandan Colada, a Bandoeng Mule with ginger beer, or a splash in an iced latte or over dessert. Build them from our cocktail ingredients at Del Mesa.
