Widow Jane is a blender's bourbon, not a distillery myth. In Red Hook, Brooklyn, the team selects straight bourbons from three states — Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana — and assembles them five barrels at a time, a batch size small enough that each run has its own centre of gravity. The finishing touch is water: hard, mineral-rich limestone water from the Rosendale Mines, the Hudson Valley workings whose cement famously went into the Brooklyn Bridge and the Empire State Building, and whose name the brand carries. Tasting Notes

Per the producer: an aroma of vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and cream; a palate of orange, maple, cherry and almond; and a finish of charred oak and spice. At 91 proof and non-chill filtered, it pours with more texture than its proof might suggest.
