The Dalmore Luminary No. 2 2024 Edition is a 16-year-old 97.2-proof (48.6% ABV) Highland single malt — the 2024 "Collectible" in The Dalmore's Luminary series with V&A Dundee, created by Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass with architect Melodie Leung of Zaha Hadid Architects. Bourbon-matured for 16 years, finished in Graham's tawny port pipes and Apostoles sherry casks with a touch of rare peated Dalmore, bottled at natural color and without chill filtration — one of just 20,000 bottles worldwide. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Whisky Meets Architecture: The Luminary Series

The Luminary series pairs The Dalmore's whisky makers with design luminaries — No. 2's partner is Melodie Leung, whose swirling sculpture for the companion "Rare" release echoes in this bottle's copper-toned presentation case. Gregg Glass built the liquid to mirror the concept: the peated-Dalmore whisper and the port-and-sherry finishing add layers the same way the design layers glass. The official tasting notes run from Manuka honey and crème brûlée through ripe figs, Seville oranges, and passion fruit to roasted chestnuts, dark cacao, and a delicate whisper of herbal wood smoke. See the Dalmore collection and the whisky shelf at Del Mesa.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Manuka honey, crème brûlée, antique leather, with delicate tropical notes of pomegranate, guava, and cherry blossom. Palate: ripe figs, Seville oranges, forest fruits, passion fruit, lightly roasted coffee, fermented black limes, and brioche. Finish: roasted chestnuts, sweet wood spices, dark cacao, and Alphonso mango with a whisper of herbal wood smoke.

How to Enjoy

This is a collector's bottle that drinks beautifully — pour it neat in a tulip glass and give it time; the port-cask layers unfold slowly. Save it for a special occasion, but don't save it forever: whisky is for drinking.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Dalmore Luminary series?
A three-part collaboration with V&A Dundee pairing The Dalmore's whisky makers with architects and designers — No. 2 (2024) is the Melodie Leung / Gregg Glass 16-year-old, limited to 20,000 bottles.

Is it really peated?
Only a touch — a small portion of exceptionally rare peated Dalmore spirit accents the blend; the whisky itself is unpeated.

Is this the rare or the collectible?
This is the Collectible (2024 Edition), the 16-year-old release — the Rare is a separate 49-year-old decanter of which only three were made.
