Milam and Greene Very Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey Batch 1 is a three-state bourbon at full strength — 108 proof (54% ABV) in a 750mL bottle, a 20% Kentucky / 80% Tennessee barrel recipe blended and finished at the Milam & Greene distillery in Blanco, Texas Hill Country. The whiskey spends its final two weeks in vatting tanks on house-charred French oak staves — cut from casks that once held tawny port and the brand's award-winning rye, "cooked" in the Texas summer sun and charred on the outside only — a finishing method as singular as the whiskey. Bottled and labeled by hand. Available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Three States in One Bottle

Founded by Marsha Milam with Master Blender Heather Greene and Master Distiller Marlene Holmes, Milam & Greene built this debut batch from two house recipes — a malted-rye Kentucky bourbon and a Tennessee bourbon — then let Texas do the talking: the Hill Country heat accelerates the finish, and those sun-baked, house-charred French oak staves (once holding tawny port and M&G rye) tie it all together in 1,000-gallon vatting tanks. Released in a limited run of hand-bottled, hand-labeled 750mL bottles. Browse more from Milam and Greene or explore Del Mesa's bourbon whiskey shelf.

Tasting Notes

The malted rye gives texture and approachability at a young age — expect a bold, full-flavored pour with dark fruit, oak spice, and the tawny-port-cask sweetness whispering underneath the 108-proof power (reviewer consensus).

How to Enjoy

Neat with water on the side — 108 proof deserves respect and a few drops to open up. This is a trophy pour for the home bar.
