High West Rendezvous Rye Whiskey
High West Rendezvous Rye Whiskey is a 750mL blend of straight rye whiskeys bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV) in Park City, Utah. High West's flagship — and the first whiskey the distillery ever produced — it blends a sourced 95% rye with High West's own pot-still rye for a high-rye profile in the old style, and is never chill filtered. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Named for the Mountain Men's Gathering
Rendezvous is named for the annual gathering of mountain traders in Utah's Cache Valley in the early 1800s — the rendezvous where trappers exchanged pelts for supplies. Fittingly, it was the first whiskey High West ever produced, and it remains the flagship: a deliberate throwback to how rye used to be made, at mash bills far above the "barely legal" 51% rye of most modern ryes. Today's seasonal blend leans harder on High West's own pot-still rye than the original sourced-only recipe did. Start with the everyday end of the range, High West Double Rye, or browse the High West vendor page.
Tasting Notes
Per the producer's current notes: a nose of orange peel, dried apricots, mint, clove, pine and caramelised sugar; a palate of bold ginger and cinnamon spice over molasses, vanilla, macaroon and toasted oak; and a finish of lively rye spice fading to caramel, orange zest and tobacco.
How to Enjoy
A flagship rye pours best neat first — then judge it in a Manhattan, where the ginger-and-cinnamon spice earns its keep. More American rye and bourbon is in our bourbon whiskey collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
How old is Rendezvous Rye?
The whiskeys are aged at least four years. Brand materials across the years have described wider ranges, and the blend is now a seasonal release whose composition varies by release — the current brand shop page states no fixed range, so none is claimed here.
Is Rendezvous Rye still a regular release?
It remains High West's flagship whiskey, but it is now released seasonally in limited quantities rather than as a year-round core bottling — and the current blend includes more of High West's own pot-still rye than the original recipe.
Is Rendezvous Rye chill filtered?
No — the brand states it is never chill filtered, and notes a harmless haze can appear in the bottle as a result.
