Thirty Years in Sherry Oak
"Unhurried since time began" is Glengoyne's motto, and the 30 Year Old is its proof: the malt master personally tastes the sherry butts a few times across three decades, and only thirteen casks a year make the cut — a third of them first-fill European oak, the rest refill sherry butts. No chill filtration, no added color, just three decades of dunnage-warehouse sherry character in a wooden presentation box. WhiskyNotes scored it 92/100, calling it "my favourite official Glengoyne." Tasting Notes
Deep amber. The nose is black cherry, sherry trifle, marmalade and tea rose over rum-and-raisin chocolate — with red plums, figs, juicy cherries, blood oranges, raspberry jam, hints of leather, mint, jasmine, ginger and cinnamon. The palate bursts sweet, turning quickly to plum compote, cinnamon, cloves and tangy marmalade: rich, deeply sherried morello cherries, raisins, orange peel, Christmas cake, all-spice, chocolate and espresso. A very long, velvety finish of drying oak spice, lingering fruit and candied orange peel.
How to Enjoy
Neat in a tulip glass, with time — this is a collector's pour and a contemplative one. A teaspoon of water will lift the dried-fruit and spice layers.
