Most whisky distilleries buy their barley. The Spirit of Yorkshire grows it — 100% of the grain comes from co-founder Tom Mellor's family farm at Hunmanby Grange, farmed by the family since WWII, and every stage from field to bottle happens within a couple of miles. Distillation began in spring 2016 in a mix of copper pot stills and a four-plate copper column still (Forsyths), and the Flagship is the distillery's permanent statement of intent: ex-bourbon casks, light and creamy and fruity, bottled without chill filtration at 46%.
