Applewood Smoke and an Islay-Trained Maltster
Most American single malts chase Scotch; Copper Fox chased the process instead. Wasmund brought Islay floor-malting discipline home to Virginia, then gave the whiskey a distinctly American signature: fruitwood. The applewood and cherrywood smoke in the malt, plus the toasted applewood steeped into the maturing spirit, layer orchard-fruit sweetness over the malt's grain character.
