The Original Luxury Whisky, Recreated
Chivas Regal 25 was first created in 1909 for the New York market, and the brand calls it the world's first luxury whisky. It vanished in the Prohibition and war years, and in 2007 Master Blender Colin Scott recreated it in the original style — a blend in which only the rarest casks qualify: every malt and grain whisky in it has aged at least 25 years, each cask is hand-selected and individually nosed by the blending team, and the finished bottles are individually numbered. At its heart sits Strathisla single malt — the Speyside distillery, founded in 1786 and the oldest working distillery in the Scottish Highlands, that has been Chivas Regal's home for generations. Per the brand's official notes: a rich gold colour; a nose of sweet orange and peach, opening into marzipan and nuts; a palate of chocolate orange with a fondant creaminess; and a smooth, rounded, luxuriously long finish.
