The First Single Barrel Canadian Whisky

When Sazerac introduced Caribou Crossing in 2010, no one had bottled Canadian whisky from a single barrel since the 19th century. Master Blender Drew Mayville — a Seagram's-trained blender who became Sazerac's Master Blender — hand-selects each barrel, and the brand took Gold at the 2020 North American Bourbon & Whiskey Competition per Sazerac's news release. See the house on the Caribou Crossing vendor page, or browse our Canadian whisky collection.

Tasting Notes

Sazerac's launch characterisation: a silky texture, rye grain cutting through wood flavours, creamy vanilla-custard smoothness, and a finish of oak with an orangey tang.

How to Enjoy

Pour it neat or over a single large cube to taste what one barrel does on its own; it also makes a softer, rounder Manhattan. More single barrels are in our Canadian whisky collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "single barrel" mean here?
Each bottling run comes from one hand-selected barrel rather than a multi-barrel blend, so character can vary slightly from barrel to barrel.

How old is Caribou Crossing?
It carries no age statement, and Sazerac does not publish one — no age is claimed for this whisky.

Who selects the barrels?
Master Blender Drew Mayville, sampling from Sazerac's inventory of roughly 200,000 barrels of Canadian whisky; bottlings are released twice a year.

One barrel at a time, twice a year — order Caribou Crossing Single Barrel online from Del Mesa Liquor in San Diego, CA.
