Bowmore 25 Year Old Scotch
Bowmore 25 Year Old Scotch is a 700mL Islay single malt bottled at 43% ABV, matured for a quarter of a century in North American bourbon casks and Spanish sherry casks at Bowmore Distillery on the shore of Loch Indaal. Twenty-Five Years on Loch Indaal
Bowmore Distillery, founded in 1779 and described by the brand as the oldest licensed distillery on Islay, still floor-malts part of its barley in-house and matures much of its whisky in the No. 1 Vaults, the below-sea-level warehouse on Loch Indaal. The 25 Year Old is where the house style meets a full quarter century: American-oak bourbon casks and Spanish sherry casks each leave their mark — stewed fruit and sherry depth against toffee sweetness — while the distillery's gentle peat threads through all of it. See the Small Batch Release form of this malt and more on the Bowmore vendor page and in our whisky collection.
Tasting Notes
Per the producer's notes: a mellow mahogany colour; intense sherry and stewed fruits on the nose with a trace of Bowmore smokiness; toffee and hazelnut on the palate with a hint of sweet peat smoke; and a mellow, gentle, complex finish.
How to Enjoy
Neat in a tulip glass, given time in the glass before the first sip — 25 years of sherry cask fruit rewards patience. More aged single malts are in our whisky collection and across our spirits collection.
