Three Years in Sherry Oak
Plenty of whiskies wave at a sherry cask on their way past; Bowmore's 15 gives the Oloroso casks a full three years — a fifth of the whisky's life — after its bourbon-barrel maturation. That is long enough for the sherry oak to genuinely re-dress the malt: the colour deepens, dried fruit and dark chocolate move to the front, and the Islay peat settles underneath as warmth rather than ash.
