Berry Picking, Kentucky Style
Bird Dog built its name on fruit flavors done at real-whiskey strength, and Blackberry is a prime example: the brand's Kentucky whiskey base — aged in oak for caramel and vanilla depth — gets infused with ripe blackberry until it tastes like late-summer berry picking with a whiskey backbone. It sits in the same whiskey family as Bird Dog's peach, apple, and strawberry, but the blackberry's dark-fruit depth gives it a little extra grown-up edge.
Tasting Notes
Ripe blackberry and dark fruit on the nose over vanilla and light oak. The palate is juicy and sweet with berry compote notes, balanced by caramel from the whiskey base; the finish is smooth with lingering berry sweetness.
How to Enjoy
Muddle fresh blackberries and mint with a pour over crushed ice for an instant smash, or mix with lemonade for a porch-ready punch. It also pairs well with ginger ale. See the full Bird Dog lineup and our whiskey collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Bird Dog Blackberry a bourbon?
No — it is a flavored whiskey. The base is Kentucky whiskey, and blackberry flavoring is added after aging, so it is labeled as flavored whiskey.
What proof is it?
80 proof (40% ABV).
Is it very sweet?
It is fruit-forward and sweet-leaning, as flavored whiskeys are, but the 80-proof whiskey base keeps it from tasting like liqueur.
