The Macallan Anecdotes of Ages — An Estate, A Community, and A Distillery is a 47.7% ABV single malt Scotch whisky created with British pop artist Sir Peter Blake — the commercially released bottle from The Macallan's Anecdotes of Ages Collection, announced February 2021. It arrives in a custom art presentation case in Blake's palette, housing the bottle alongside a certificate on the artwork's history, a printed art scroll of collage anecdotes, and a tracing-paper overlay identifying each character — which accounts for the case's substantial 15 lb shipping weight. The 700mL bottle's label, digitally designed by Blake, tells stories of colorful characters from The Macallan's past and present. Order rare Scotch online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Pop Art Meets Speyside

Sir Peter Blake — the man behind the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover — has worked with The Macallan for the better part of four decades, and Anecdotes of Ages is their third collaboration. The wider collection pairs thirteen one-of-a-kind bottles of 1967-vintage whisky (one sold at Sotheby's for the Guggenheim) with original Blake collages; this bottle was specially created so collectors beyond the auction room could own a piece of it. Lead Whisky Maker Sarah Burgess selected the whisky: dried fruits, treacle, and cracked black pepper over orange and clove, with vanilla and a long, rich oak finish. Tasting Notes

Dried fruits and treacle on the nose with cracked black pepper and orange. The palate shows clove, vanilla, and rich oak over dark fruit, finishing long and warming with lingering spice — cinnamon in colour, generous in texture.

How to Enjoy

This is a collector's bottle first — display the art case proudly. If you open it, pour neat in a tulip glass; a whisky at this level needs nothing added.
