Speyside Honey Meets Caribbean Rum
To build the finish, David C. Stewart MBE — the distillery's Malt Master at the time — filled American oak casks with his own blend of West Indian rums; when the wood had taken on the rum's character, the rum was replaced with 14-year-old Balvenie and the casks went back to work. Per the producer: rich, sweet, creamy toffee on the nose combined with fresh fruit notes; rounded vanilla and sweet oak on the palate with a fruity character that develops with time; and a soft, warm, lingering finish.
