Neisson Rhum Vieux Par Neisson
Neisson Rhum Vieux Par Neisson is a 750mL aged rhum agricole at 45% ABV from Distillerie Neisson in Le Carbet, Martinique. Released for the distillery's 85th anniversary, it is a blend of rhums aged 3 to 9 years in French Limousin oak casks and American ex-bourbon barrels — fresh cane juice, distilled in the house Savalle column under AOC Martinique rules, then given years in wood. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Anniversary Vieux
Le Rhum Vieux par Neisson was assembled to mark 85 years of the little family distillery at Le Carbet: aged rhums drawn from Limousin's slow, spicy oak and from ex-bourbon barrels, blended back into one vieux that keeps cane at its centre. It is the aged counterpoint to the house's famous blancs. See the range on the Neisson Distillery vendor page or browse more rum.
Tasting Notes
Tropical fruit and roasted nuts on the nose; fruit, nutmeg and coconut across the palate; a slightly smoky oak finish. La Maison du Whisky's notes add elegant wood, vanilla and honey on the nose and a smooth, nutty close.
How to Enjoy
Neat or with a single cube — this is a sipping vieux, not a mixer. A Rhum Old Fashioned with a Demerara cube is the one cocktail serve that does it justice.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does "vieux" mean? Aged: under Martinique's AOC, a rhum vieux has spent at least three years in oak. This blend runs from 3 to 9 years.
Is it finished in cognac barrels? Some US listings say so, but no European or producer source for this bottling mentions a cognac finish, so it is not claimed here.
How strong is it? 45% ABV in this 750mL US bottling.
