Raising Glasses Burlesque 7 Year Old Single Cask Rum
Raising Glasses Burlesque 7 Year Old Single Cask Rum is a single-cask American rum from independent bottler Raising Glasses, distilled by Roulaison Distilling in New Orleans, Louisiana, and bottled at cask strength, 58.3% ABV (116.6 proof), in a 375mL bottle. Roulaison distills Louisiana molasses on a pot still, and this batch went through a 90-day fermentation the distillery describes as accidental — roughly ten times longer than a standard rum ferment, and the reason the spirit carries so much fruit and funk into the barrel. It aged seven years in a cask that previously held Cabernet and Zinfandel red wine, then was bottled with no sugar, color or other additives, in a run of 339 bottles. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Accidental Fermentation That Became a Favorite
Raising Glasses — Lorri and John, longtime Scotch collectors turned independent bottlers — call Burlesque one of their all-time favorite releases: the accidental 90-day fermentation unleashed a wild, intense, multi-layered flavor experience. Roulaison, founded by Andrew Lohfeld and Patrick Hernandez, began with a serious interest in fermentation, working with Louisiana molasses from a nearby sugar mill and techniques like Queen's Share redistillation; Burlesque takes that philosophy to an extraordinary extreme, then spends seven full years in red wine oak. The result drinks closer to a wine-finished whiskey than to anything from the Caribbean. Browse more American and independent-bottled rum in our rum collection and the full spirits range.
Tasting Notes
Mulled wine, cherry cough drops, Red Hots cinnamon candy, flan custard and candied orange peel — the bottler's own notes read like the name: fruit, spice and wine-cask richness layered over pot still funk.
How to Enjoy
Sip it neat or with a few drops of water at cask strength, and give it air — the wine cask keeps unfolding. Whiskey drinkers curious about rum should start here; cocktail builders can find everything else they need among our cocktail ingredients and the rare and top shelf collection.
