The Story
Provenance is the flagship brand of Middleburg Barrel Company, founded in 2025 by Viyas Sundaram at Provenance Estate in Middleburg, Virginia. Every cask is hunted down and personally selected by Principal Whiskeymaker Jay West, who spent years reviewing thousands of whiskeys as the critic known as t8ke at Whiskey Raiders before stepping to the other side of the barrel. More than 2,000 sourced Kentucky casks now rest in new rickhouses on the 121-acre estate, and the Small Batch is where West's blending palate does its work, marrying barrels of different ages into one layered pour. Tasting Notes
Rich honey, maple candies and classic sweet oak on the nose, balancing baking spice, cinnamon and pepper. The palate is satisfying and layered at 98 proof, with no shortage of oak, baking spice and dessert character, and a punch of toffee and maple through the finish.
