Nashville Barrel Company 20 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey
Nashville Barrel Company 20 Year Old Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey is a barrel strength single-barrel straight bourbon from Nashville Barrel Company, the independent bottler founded in Nashville, Tennessee in 2018 by Mike Hinds, a longtime single-barrel picker in whiskey-club circles, and James Davenport, a former Navy officer. This Collaborative Bottling — barrel #1439 — was distilled in Tennessee and spent two full decades in charred American white oak before bottling, non-chill filtered, at full barrel strength, 61.26% ABV (122.52 proof), in a 750mL bottle. It is the oldest release the company has put its name on: Nashville Barrel Company does not distill, instead buying barrels from MGP and other undisclosed distilleries to age, blend and bottle in Nashville under a house rule that nothing goes out under five years old — this barrel quadruples that. Twenty years of evaporation leaves very little in a barrel, so the yield was a small number of bottles. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Two Decades in Oak — the Oldest Nashville Barrel Company Release
American oak gives up most of its sweetness in a bourbon's first decade; a barrel that survives twenty Tennessee years and still pours at 122.52 proof is a study in what comes after — leather, tobacco leaf and deep char layered over the caramel core. As a Collaborative Bottling from the company's private selection program, barrel #1439 was chosen to be bottled on its own rather than blended away, non-chill filtered and at full strength. Hunters of ultra-aged American whiskey will find more in our bourbon whiskey collection and the rare and top shelf shelves.
Tasting Notes
Aged oak, leather, dark caramel and tobacco leaf on the nose; toffee, dark fruit, roasted pecan, vanilla bean and clove on the palate; and a long finish of oak, char and caramelized sugar — the published notes read the way a bourbon this old should.
How to Enjoy
Pour it neat in a proper glass and let it sit — twenty years of oak needs air, not ice. A few drops of water loosen the barrel proof and bring the pecan and vanilla bean forward. Compare it with the younger single barrels in our whisky collection and across the spirits range.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who distilled this bourbon?
It was distilled in Tennessee at an undisclosed distillery and bottled by Nashville Barrel Company as a single barrel — barrel #1439 — from its Collaborative Bottling series of private selections.
How was it bottled?
At full barrel strength, 61.26% ABV (122.52 proof), non-chill filtered, after 20 years in charred American white oak — a limited edition.
Why are there so few bottles?
Twenty years of evaporation — the angels' share — leaves very little whiskey in a barrel, so a 20-year single barrel yields only a small number of 750mL bottles.
