The Story

The Capurro family has been producing pisco for five generations and played a direct role in shaping Peru's national spirit, helping establish the standards for the Peruvian Pisco Denomination of Origin. Their estate vineyards sit at 428 meters in Nasca, a coastal desert where longer, hotter days ripen the grapes more fully than elsewhere in the Ica Valley. Everything happens on the estate: grapes are harvested by hand once a year, pressed a single time, fermented naturally into wine and distilled by varietal, then rested and released by vintage when the family judges them ready by taste alone.

Tasting Notes

Torontel is one of Peru's aromatic pisco grapes, and it shows. The nose is herbal and floral, led by jasmine flower with cool cucumber and candied fennel. The palate adds soft nectarine skin and bright grape fruit, with the clean, oily texture that comes from a single copper pot distillation and a long rest before bottling.

How to Enjoy

Sip it neat to appreciate the aromatics, or use it anywhere a floral, grape-based spirit shines: a Pisco Sour, a Chilcano with ginger ale and lime, or a pisco punch. Its perfume also makes it an easy substitute for vodka or gin in aromatic cocktails.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Puro pisco?

In Peru, a Puro is a pisco made from a single grape variety. This bottling is 100% Torontel, an aromatic variety, unlike an Acholado, which blends several grapes.

How is Capurro Pisco made?

Single-estate grapes are hand harvested, gently pressed once, naturally fermented into wine with indigenous yeast, then distilled a single time to proof in a copper pot still. The spirit rests a minimum of one year and is bottled undiluted and unfiltered, with no water, sugar or any other additive.

Why does the ABV vary between bottles?

Capurro is bottled at distillation proof with no water added, so each vintage lands at its own natural strength. This bottling is 41.5% ABV; other vintages may differ slightly.

Where does Capurro Pisco come from?

From the Capurro family estate in Nasca, in Peru's Ica region, a coastal desert valley recognized as one of the five official regions for Peruvian pisco.
