Monymusk Classic Gold is a Jamaican rum from the historic Monymusk sugar estate in Clarendon — a blend of column-still and pot-still rums, matured five years in ex-bourbon American oak and bottled at 40% ABV in a 750mL bottle. Column stills give it lightness; Clarendon's double-retort pot stills give it the aromatic complexity Jamaica is famous for: fruit cores, marmalade, tropical fruit, and a sweet medium finish per the IWSC tasting panel. It took Silver at the 2024 USA Spirits Ratings. Available to order online from Del Mesa Liquor in San Diego, CA.

  • Origin: Monymusk estate, Clarendon, Jamaica (estate founded 1755) — produced by National Rums of Jamaica

Clarendon's Five-Year Blend

The Monymusk sugar estate dates to 1755 in Clarendon, producing sugar and rum before abolition and still supplying molasses to the distillery today. The rum is distilled at the Clarendon Distillery and produced by National Rums of Jamaica — the state-linked holding company behind Clarendon, Long Pond, and the retired Innswood site, three of Jamaica's great rum-making assets. Maturation happens in ex-bourbon American oak at the retired Innswood distillery warehouses, where tropical aging works fast. The IWSC panel's tasting note reads like a dessert menu: fruit cores, marmalade, white port, and tropical fruit with a sweet medium finish. A smooth, fruity rum that works both neat and mixed. Tasting Notes

Brown cane sugar, ripe plum, and molasses over the IWSC panel's fruit cores and marmalade, with a bitter-cocoa hint. Soft and sweet on the palate, smooth, with a medium, tropical-fruit finish.

How to Enjoy

Neat or over ice as a sipper — the five-year oak rounds it out — or in a rum old fashioned or mai tai, where the pot-still funk carries the drink.
