Neisson Rhum Élevé Sous Bois
Neisson Rhum Élevé Sous Bois is a 1L rhum agricole at 50% ABV from Le Carbet, Martinique. Its name means "raised under wood": it begins as Neisson blanc and gains its golden colour during 18 months in new French oak vats, then is bottled at the distillery at full 50% strength under AOC Martinique rules. The importer's sheet cites Wine Enthusiast's "Superb" (90–95) rating and F. Paul Pacult's four-star Highly Recommended for this bottling. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Raised Under Wood
Élevé Sous Bois is the bridge in Neisson's range: too young to be a vieux, far past a blanc, with eighteen months of new French oak laid over the estate's cane-juice spirit. The oak colours and rounds it without sanding off the grassy cane character that makes agricole agricole. Explore the distillery on the Neisson Distillery vendor page or see more rum and spirits.
Tasting Notes
From the importer's sheet: fresh sugar cane with slight oak and vanilla on the aroma; citrus, fruit and tropical florals on the palate; a slightly smoky oak and vanilla finish. Wine Enthusiast's notes add cane, honey and vanilla bean over a smooth, biscuity, grassy close.
How to Enjoy
Neat, in a Ti' Punch with real structure behind it, or in a Daiquiri that wants oak as well as cane.
