Jefferson's Reserve Twin Oak Custom Barrel Bourbon Whiskey

When One Barrel Isn't Enough
Jefferson's was founded in 1997 by Trey Zoeller and his father Chet, named for Thomas Jefferson and built on the president's experimental spirit — the same instinct behind the brand's famous Ocean series, aged at sea, and Presidential Select. Twin Oak applies that curiosity to the barrel itself. Independent Stave Company, the family-owned Missouri cooperage, co-developed the design: interior staves cut with a proprietary groove pattern that exposes far more surface area to the whiskey, followed by a flash char and a precisely timed, temperature-controlled toast. The fully mature bourbon rests in this second barrel until the extra wood contact deepens it without overwhelming it. Among bourbon whiskies, this is one of the few finished-bourbon expressions where the finishing vessel itself is the innovation. Browse the Jefferson's collection for more of the brand's experiments.
Tasting Notes
The nose shows thick wood, vanilla and butterscotch over cinnamon-apple tart. The flavor leads with classic baking spices, then roasted almonds, sweet bell pepper, fresh-cut wood and a hint of apple. The finish is medium-length with lingering spice.
How to Enjoy
Neat or with one large cube to showcase the double-barrel wood character. The 90.2-proof frame also carries beautifully into an Old Fashioned — the baking-spice notes do half the work.
