Herradura Reposado Tequila is a 750mL reposado bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), made from 100% blue Weber agave at Casa Herradura in Amatitan, Jalisco, and aged for 11 months in charred American white oak barrels the house coopers itself — nine months longer than the two-month reposado minimum. Herradura introduced the world's first commercial reposado in 1974, and this is that original expression, still made at the last true tequila-producing hacienda. The World's First Reposado, From the Last Tequila Hacienda
Casa Herradura — founded in 1870 at the Hacienda San Jose del Refugio in Amatitan — created the reposado category in 1974 when it first rested tequila in oak, and the house still makes its own 55-gallon charred American white oak barrels on site. Agave is slow-cooked in brick ovens and fermented open with wild yeasts from the estate's fruit trees before double distillation. Per the brand: a rich amber reposado with shades of copper, centred on cooked agave with warm anise, fruit and spice; smooth on the palate with vanilla and butter inside sweet cooked agave; a smooth, sweet finish with a hint of spice.
