A Grandmother's Name on a Portland Bourbon
Freeland Spirits is one of the very few women-owned and women-run distilleries in the United States. Founder Jill Kuehler named it for her grandmother — "Meemaw" Freeland, who never drank but taught her that good things come from scratch — and Master Distiller Molly Troupe, a biochemist by training, blends the bourbon for balanced texture and harmony. Tasting Notes
Per the producer's notes: a rich mahogany colour; an aroma of toffee and marmalade with smoked pecan and clove; a rounded, smooth palate of soft caramel and baked berries layered with vanilla bean, cocoa and spice; and a long, velvety finish.
