Atlanta's Own Bourbon — a Solo, Not a Forage
Most Fiddler whiskies are foraged — sourced and then fiddled with in Atlanta. Soloist is the exception: ASW's own house bourbon, distilled in Atlanta from the start. When ASW first distilled it in 2016, no Atlanta distillery had ventured into bourbon since Georgia prohibition was lifted in 1933 — making Soloist the first-ever straight bourbon distilled in the city. Instead of leaning on corn, the recipe trades it for flavourful malts — wheat malt, rye malt, Munich malt, beechwood-smoked malt and chocolate rye malt — for a bourbon unlike anything from Kentucky. It holds a Gold Medal from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (2020). Shop the ASW Distillery collection, the bourbon whiskey shelves, and more whiskey at Del Mesa.
Tasting Notes
The distillery's own notes: Cinnamon Toast Crunch, cherry cola, chocolate and peanut brittle — malt-driven sweetness and spice over a bourbon frame, bottled at a full 100 proof.
How to Enjoy
Neat or over a single large cube so the malt character stays in front; its chocolate and cherry-cola depth also makes a distinctive Manhattan.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does "Soloist" mean? It marks this as ASW's own in-house-distilled bourbon — the solo house expression — as opposed to the sourced "foraged" whiskies in the rest of the Fiddler line. The standard bottling is not a single-barrel release.
Why does the mash bill list so many malts? Soloist deliberately reduces corn in favour of flavourful malted grains — wheat, rye, Munich, beechwood-smoked and chocolate rye malts — which give it its cereal-sweet, chocolatey character.
Where is it distilled? In Atlanta, Georgia, double-distilled on Vendome copper pot stills at ASW Distillery — the first straight bourbon distilled in the city, first made in 2016.
What is the ABV and size? 50% ABV (100 proof), 750mL.
