Named for a Rum-Runner
The Kirk and Sweeney was a wooden schooner best known for smuggling rum from the Caribbean to the Northeast US in the early Prohibition years — seized off New York in 1924, renamed Chase, and put to work as a Coast Guard trainer. August Sebastiani's 3 Badge Beverage named its Dominican rum for her, and dressed it accordingly: an 18th-century-style onion bottle wrapped in a silkscreened antique map of the smuggling route, with a sailcloth neck. The rum inside is the range's reserva — the expression formerly sold as the "12," now carrying no age statement. Find it in our rum collection, or visit the Kirk and Sweeney vendor page.
Tasting Notes
Color: Deep mahogany. Nose: Cane honey and earthy sugarcane with vanilla, toasted oak, caramel and dried fruit. Palate: Nectar-sweet entry into a weightier body — light vanilla and wood, serious but never overbearing. Finish: Bold, ripe vanilla, smooth and long.
How to Enjoy
Neat or on a single large cube to let the oak show, or as the aged-rum base of an Old Fashioned or a rum Manhattan.
