Chateau de Millet XO Armagnac
Chateau de Millet XO Armagnac is an 84-proof (42% ABV) "Hors d'âge" blend from the heart of Bas-Armagnac — a selection of the estate's finest eaux-de-vie, aged 15–25 years in 400L local white oak pièces armagnacaises. The Dèche family has distilled at Château de Millet, just outside Eauze in the Gers, for five and six generations: wood-fired stills, estate vines, and a rule that no sugar or color is ever added. This 750mL bottle is the top of the range — deep, round, and built for the long finish. Order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Six Generations in the Gers
Château de Millet sits just outside Eauze, the small Gascon town that has been the capital of Armagnac for centuries. Francis and Lydie Dèche run the estate with their daughter Laurence — the fifth and sixth generations of a family that grows its own grapes, distills in a wood-fired still, and ages everything in local 400L white oak pieces. The XO is their showpiece: a blend of the best Bas Armagnac in the cellar, rested a decade and a half to two and a half decades. Tasting Notes
Beautiful amber in the glass. The nose is complex — dried fruits and prune — over a round body with roasted hazelnuts. The finish is intense and very long.
How to Enjoy
Neat in a tulip or snifter, at room temperature, after dinner. Armagnac at this age doesn't need water or ice — it needs time and a quiet room.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does XO mean on an Armagnac label?
XO (Extra Old) marks a blend whose youngest eau-de-vie is at least 10 years old per BNIC rules — the "Hors d'âge" designation this bottle also carries signals a blend older still.
How old is Château de Millet XO Armagnac?
The blend combines eaux-de-vie aged 15–25 years — well beyond the 10-year minimum.
What's the difference between Armagnac and Cognac?
Armagnac is single-distilled in the Gascony region of southwest France; Cognac is double-distilled in the Charente. Armagnac tends to be bolder, more rustic, and more aromatic.
