Five Generations, One Vintage at a Time

The Dèche family has farmed Château de Millet — 220 acres just outside Eauze, with some 25 acres devoted to Armagnac on clay-limestone and tawny-sand soils — for five generations. Most of each harvest is blended into the estate's VS, VSOP and XO, but select casks are set aside and bottled little by little as single vintages, each one staying in barrel until the day it is bottled. The 1981 is that patience, bottled. See more from the estate in the Chateau de Millet collection, browse Armagnac, and explore the wider brandy shelves.

Tasting Notes

An elegant nose of liquorice and sweet spice with the polish of long ageing; soft and full-bodied on the palate with great length and a caramel finish in a deep dark-gold glass.

How to Enjoy

Serve neat in a tulip or Armagnac glass at room temperature, a small pour at a time — a 1981 vintage rewards slow sipping after dinner, with nothing added.
