Wyoming's First Legal Distillery
Wyoming Whiskey fired up its stills on July 4, 2009 — the first legal distillery the state had ever seen — and built its house bourbon on a wheated recipe that drinks softer and rounder than high-rye Kentucky bourbon. Six rickhouses in Kirby hold the barrels through Wyoming's wide temperature swings, and each bottle carries a hand-written batch number and bottling date. It has collected serious critical love along the way, including 95 points from WhiskyCast and 94 from the Ultimate Spirits Challenge. Tasting Notes
Dark amber; floral, vanilla bean, and caramel pudding on the nose. The palate is floral and soft — brown baking spices, browned butter, vanilla crème, and caramel with a cinnamon hint — finishing medium with toffee.
How to Enjoy
Neat or with a splash of water; the wheated softness also makes it a natural Old Fashioned bourbon.
