Marolo Grappa di Barolo is the flagship aged grappa of Distilleria Santa Teresa in Alba, founded by Paolo Marolo in 1977 in the heart of Piedmont's Langhe hills. It is distilled from the fresh Nebbiolo pomace of roughly 25 top Barolo producers, rushed from the press to the distillery at harvest to capture the grape at its most aromatic.

The pomace is gently distilled in handmade, discontinuous bain-marie copper stills, and the grappa then rests for a minimum of four years in French barriques that formerly held Marsala wine. The wood rounds the spirit without overwhelming the Nebbiolo character — Paolo Marolo's rule is that grappa must taste like grappa. Bottled at a full 50% ABV (100 proof), it pours pale golden-amber with aromas of windfall apple, toasted nuts and herbs, a balanced palate with a faint molasses note, and a long finish. Serve it neat as a digestif after a rich meal.

Presented in its gift box with the distillery's bird label art, Marolo Grappa di Barolo is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor. Compare it with the unoaked Marolo Grappa di Brunello or browse our wider spirits range, including Moletto Grappa di Nebbiolo da Barolo.
