George Dickel 18 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey is the oldest whiskey George Dickel has ever released — a limited-edition small-batch bourbon aged 18 years in the brand's single-story rickhouses at Cascade Hollow in Tennessee and bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV). It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

  • ABV: 45% (90 proof)
  • Size: 750mL
  • Age: 18 years
  • Mash bill: 84% corn, 8% rye, 8% malted barley
  • Maturation: charred oak barrels in single-story rickhouses, Cascade Hollow Distillery, Tullahoma, Tennessee
  • Release: limited-edition small batch (announced November 2023)

Eighteen Years in a Single Story

Most rickhouses stack barrels stories high, where heat swings age whiskey unevenly; George Dickel's single-story rickhouses at Cascade Hollow age every barrel under the same roof, slowly. Eighteen years under that roof produced the brand's oldest release to date — a follow-up to the 17-year-old Tennessee whisky of 2022 — built on the same 84/8/8 mash bill as the Dickel bourbon line but with nearly two decades of oak behind it. Director of George Dickel & Luxury Whiskey Nicole Austin calls it "rare and beautifully aged" with a surprising brightness not often found in American whiskeys of this age.

Tasting Notes

Crème brûlée and orchard fruit lead the nose, with banana, applesauce, mint, and vanilla; the palate is sweet and mellow — vanilla, cola, marzipan, and flamed orange peel — tempered by deep oak from the long aging. Long, balanced finish.

How to Enjoy

Neat in a Glencairn — a bourbon this old and this limited is a tasting-room pour. One cube if you must, but give it the first sips uncut.
