The Beer
Duvel takes its name from a taster's verdict in 1923 — "a real devil" — and it has been Belgium's benchmark strong blond ever since. It is brewed with Slovenian and Czech hops and fermented with a yeast strain of Scottish origin cultured since the 1920s. The long, cold process and bottle refermentation give it its champagne-like effervescence: bright gold, a great rocky head, fruity pear and citrus notes, and a dry, hoppy finish that hides its 8.5% strength.
The Pints and Panels Artwork
The box and the included glass are wrapped in doodles by Em Sauter, the cartoonist and international beer judge behind Pints and Panels — brewing-process notes ("First Ferm 68°–72°F", "Cold Conditioned 28°F", "Bottle Conditioned") sketched across the pack, and the brewery's "Enjoy The Magic of Duvel" line on the glass itself. It is a limited-edition holiday release.
