Viva Mexico Special Edition Tahona High Proof Blanco Tequila
Viva Mexico Special Edition Tahona High Proof Blanco Tequila is a limited blanco from the Vivanco family's Destilería El Ranchito (NOM 1414) in Arandas, in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, imported by Skurnik. It swaps the distillery's roller mill for a tahona, the volcanic stone wheel pictured on the label, to crush the cooked agave the slow, traditional way. The agave is 100% estate-grown Blue Weber matured six to eight years on the family's ranchos at about 6,600 feet, roasted in masonry ovens, tahona-milled, open-fermented with native yeasts and deep-well water while classical music plays — the family's "Mozart method" — then distilled twice in copper pot stills under maestro tequilero Sergio Cruz and bottled unaged at 48% ABV (96 proof) in a 750mL bottle, kosher certified and additive-free. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.
