Transcontinental Rum Line High Seas is TCRL's first multi-island blend — a 90-proof cocktail rum from La Maison du Whisky's independent-bottling project, marrying tropically aged Panamanian molasses rum with unaged high-ester Jamaican pot-still rum and unaged Martinique grand arôme rum. Blended and bottled in France with no additives and no coloring, it lands at 45% ABV (90 proof) in a 750mL bottle, built to echo the character of rum that once crossed the ocean in oak barrels. It's available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

  • ABV: 45% (90 proof)
  • Size: 750mL
  • Blend origins: Panama (tropically aged molasses rum, column still) + Jamaica (unaged high-ester pot-still) + Martinique (unaged grand arôme rhum, unaged)
  • Bottler: Transcontinental Rum Line — La Maison du Whisky (France) independent-bottling project, launched 2016; bottled by La Maison & Velier
  • Build: pot & column blend, NAS; additive-free, no coloring
  • Concept: replicates the historical transatlantic barrel-voyage character — competes with Denizen, Probitas and Hamilton mixing blends

A Three-Island Blend for the Bar Cart

TCRL designed High Seas for cocktails: the Panamanian component brings tropically aged depth, the unaged Jamaican pot-still brings the ester funk, and the unaged Martinique rhum brings grassy, floral top notes — bottled in France with nothing added and no coloring. It's TCRL's first multi-island release (circa 2023) and it sits in the mixing-rum lane alongside Denizen, Probitas and Hamilton blends. Tasting Notes

Per the brand's own notes (via HiTime): nose of ripe banana, toffee, pineapple, dates and lily flowers; palate of bitter orange, chestnut honey, salted butter and ginger; a long finish — polished mahogany, roasted coffee, fresh pine, candied lemon. Third-party (Memphis Rum Club): pear, pineapple, kiwi, banana and cinnamon on the nose; vanilla, pineapple and green apple on the palate.

How to Enjoy

A tiki and daiquiri workhorse — 90 proof and high-ester enough to carry through citrus, syrups and bitters. Also drinks well as a funky rum old fashioned.
