The Heart Bottle from La Cofradia
Sangre de Vida — "lifeblood," for tequila as the lifeblood of Mexico — was created by Kim Brandi of Iconic Brands, the designer behind the calavera skull bottles first made for KAH Tequila. After the skull-bottle era ended, Brandi rebooted Sangre de Vida at La Cofradia, NOM 1137, in the town of Tequila, keeping the original recipes: agave slow-cooked in brick hornos and fermented in stainless steel. The blanco wears the reboot's signature glass — an anatomically correct heart modelled on El Corazon, card 27 of the Loteria deck. Tasting Notes
Per the brand's notes: a bouquet of banana, citrus, green bell pepper and white flowers; a light, peppery palate of true agave flavour with a hint of the minerals of the earth — a blanco that leaves the taste buds asking for another sip.
How to Enjoy
Neat or in a blanco Margarita where the banana-and-blossom aromatics survive the citrus — and the heart bottle earns its place on the bar long after the pour. More blancos are in our tequila collection.
