Rinomato Aperitivo Deciso is the bitter aperitivo from Giancarlo Mancino's Asti house — 14% ABV (28 proof), 1L, built on a regional sugar beet distillate rather than wine, with bitter orange peel, gentian, cinchona bark and wormwood driving a long, building bitter finish. It sits between Aperol-level sweetness and Campari-level bitterness, and it is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Deciso: Asti's Bitter, Decided

Rinomato was created in 2015 by bartender Giancarlo Mancino with his partners at Fasel Shenstone, reviving the 19th-century northern Italian aperitivo tradition. Where the range's Americano bottlings are aromatised wines, the Deciso — "decisive" — is the spirit-based bitter: botanicals sourced from farms on four continents are crushed, extracted into sugar beet distillate, then blended and filtered in small batches with no chemical or artificial inputs. Find it among our liqueurs, or browse the house's wine-based Americanos on the Rinomato vendor page.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Orange peel and vanilla over gentian root, cinchona bark and wormwood. Palate: An initially sweet entry carrying the orange and spice, then bitterness that builds gradually rather than hitting all at once. Finish: Long and increasingly bitter, held together by texture and spice.

How to Enjoy

Build a spritz with sparkling wine, lengthen it with grapefruit soda, ginger ale or tonic, or use it wherever a cocktail calls for a bitter liqueur and wants a lighter hand — it was designed to slot into gin and agave drinks as readily as into a classic spritz.

How bitter is it compared with Campari or Aperol? Its founder positions it between the two — less bitter and aggressive than Campari, less sweet than Aperol.

Who created Rinomato? Bartender Giancarlo Mancino, in collaboration with Fasel Shenstone, launched in 2015 and produced in Asti, Piedmont.
